Headshot and fashion Photography In Vancouver BC
For professional headshots you don't always need a studio. Being in a studio is great for conditions because you can complete control of the lighting environment but shooting outside has optimum lighting for headshots. Lighting and properly well lit photo. Although I typically use a couple of portable strobes for hair and side lighting, headshots in Vancouver sometimes require more studio time due to weather.
Being versatile for your headshot is very important. As an actor I Want expression. During the shoot its not about the technical details of the photography, its about me coaching and getting the right expression from you. I try to get all the emotions from you. Directors want to see a variety of expressions when looking at headshots the comedic look, the serious look, the real power look ?????? lets to do it all. I'm going to get all the different emotions from you.
Preparation is everything when you come to a photo shoot. Clothing is a big question What do you wear for headshots? What should you bring to the photo shoot? The best advice for a great headshot is to wear something that you love to wear! Sounds simple but its true. Don't go to the store and buy something flashy that you wouldn't normally wear. Wear something for your headshot that you wear all the time and you feel comfortable and sexy in. Try to avoid colors that have pattern or loud colors.
Directors in Vancouver tell me they get Headshot photos brought in that are taken by mom or friend. They get Polaroid's, Xeroxes and photos take a long time ago. A professional photo speaks volumes about how seriously you take your career. A headshot should be seen as an investment.
You're headshot should be a clear representation of you. The director sees that and sees expression, sees an emotion in that photo that appeals to them. It all comes down to a well lit photo and a relaxed actor.
The success of your headshot is sometimes mainly about the photographers report with the actor. It's important to getting the right expressions. You might not get it on the first 30 frames. It's a process that takes some time and its about helping you feel comfortable in the camera
Avoiding the dead look is something I have to emphasize when shooting digital sometimes there are 500 -600 frames per session. Give me some looks some expression. It's my job to get that expression from you. Give me the odd smirk, the odd seductive look. Have fun with it.
I've been told I make people feel comfortable in front of the camera, which is great because the more confident you feel the more comfortable you'll be in front of the camera. Your headshots will have better results when at ease during a photo session.
I love photographing people and faces if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
